The Trustees of Living Stones are happy to announce that Bishop James Curry has agreed to become our Honorary President in succession to Professor Mary Gray. Bishop Jim is an auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Westminster. Recently appointed by Pope Francis on 22 April 20 he was consecrated bishop at Westminster Cathedral on 18 June 2024 by Cardinal Vincent Nichols, who is one of our Spiritual Patrons. Bishop Jim has a long interest in the Holy Land. He is Prior of the Westminster Section of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre and a Trustee of the ecumenical Christian Charity, the Friends of the Holy Land.
In January he was present as one of two bishops from England and Wales who, together with six other European Catholic bishops, visited Holy Land to express solidarity with the Christians of the Holy Land and with all those who have suffered since the escalation of violence.
We are grateful to Bishop Jim for agreeing to become our Honorary President. We would also like to thank Professor Mary Gray. for her long association with Living Stones, first as chair and then as our Honorary President. She is now agreed to accept the title of Honorary President Emerita. We wish Mary a long and happy life with her husband Nicholas in their retirement.
